Behavior consultation services are designed to include assessments, program design, monitoring, and consultation/training (individual/parent other professional) for adults with intellectual disabilities. A Behavior Specialist Consultant (BSC) designs and directs the implementation of a behavior modification intervention plan once a functional behavioral assessment is completed. The plan is individualized to the adult in the setting where services are needed.
All methods and interventions incorporated into plans must be agreed upon by the adult/family/support staff and will be least restrictive, least intrusive, and reflect positive approaches. Examples of types of behavioral interventions that can be used include, but are not limited to, Reinforcement Programs, Functional Communication, Self-Monitoring, and Modeling Cognitive Behavior Modification. The BSC will be a Master's or Doctorate level clinician in a related psychology field.
