Interactive Metronome
What is an Interactive Metronome?
The Interactive Metronome is the only research based training program that combines a musical metronome and patented technology that accurately measures and improves a person's rhythm and timing. It is an easy and effective way to increase mental and physical abilities in school, sports and professional performance. Clinically, the IM helps patients with attention deficit disorders, autism, speech and learning disabilities, stroke, traumatic brain injury, motor and sensory disorders and neurological impairments.
How Does It Work?
You hear a rhythmic sound through stereo headphones and respond by tapping or clapping as close to the beat as you can. Guide sounds tell you whether you are early, late or right on the beat and your brain quickly learns how to find its own rhythm. Over a series of 12 to 15 sessions, your brain quickly learns rhythm and timing. As timing improves, so do motor control and coordination, focus, concentration and attention span, self-control and school, sports and social performance.
How does It Help Athletes?
The IM improves coordination and timing and helps shut out distractions and stay focused. It can help athletes who are good become even better because it improves the mind-muscle connection. High Schools baseball teams across the country are using the IM to help batters determine with greater accuracy if and when they should swing at the ball and what part of the field to hit it to. Additionally, the IM has helped golfers improve their swings and The Professional Golf Association Tour has seen growing interest in the Metronome. It has been called "the hottest piece of equipment on the tour".
